You may use the media to upgrade multiple PCs without downloading installation files on each (which you would do if you would use the "update now" option on each of the devices. Media is useful if you want to have physical installation media on a DVD or USB Flash drive. The software is linked on the very same page and the main benefit that it offers is that you may use it to create installation media.
